Massage Philosophy

Touch Therapy

Healing for our increasingly impersonal and technical society. Massage is a compassionate and intimate healing discipline. It is an exploration into the mystery of our bodies and our human nature.

Modern life disconnects us from our bodies, we are divided into component parts, isolated from ourselves and from each other by social pressures and bad attitudes. Massage at the most basic level as with physiotherapy treats the 'affected part' of the body, but massage as well as relieving the stress in a body part can also integrate the entire body and the person within and it is here that massage becomes 'holistic bodywork'.

Holistic bodywork when combined with self awareness and responsibility can help to not only relieve suffering, but help to transform a person into a conscious human being leading them to freedom and an end to suffering.

Massage is a way to the “Self”

“The first thing is the body, the body is your base, it is your ground, it is where you are grounded.
To make you antagonistic towards the body is to destroy you, to make you schizophrenic, to make you miserable, to create hell.
You are the body; of course you are more than the body, but more will follow later on.
First you are the body, the body is your basic truth. So never be against the body.
Whenever you are against the body you are going against God, whenever you are disrespectful to your body, you are losing contact with reality, because your body is your contact, your body is your bridge your body is your temple.”
Osho - The Tantra Vision

There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward. And there are those who give with pain, and that pain is their baptism.
And there are those who give and know not pain in giving, nor do they seek joy, not give with mindfulness of virtue They give as in yonder valley the myrtle breathes its fragrance into space. Through the hands of such as these God speaks, and from behind their eyes he smiles upon the earth.
The Prophet, Kahlil Gibran

In order to heal you must be able to feel: to empathise, to feel sympathy, compassion, and care for the other person.
The more concentration and energy you put into your massage, the more easily that healing energy will be able to flow through you.
The success of your massage depends not so much on the type of massage you give, or how refined your technique is, as it does on your state of mind.
If your mind is untroubled and you feel relaxed, your movements will flow naturally.

If we learned 'how to' and spent more time rubbing each other the 'right way', our world would be a much happier place.
As we step outside our comfort zones so we become more who we truly are.
