Creating and sustaining health and wholeness
Our health is affected by our genetics, upbringing, diet and lifestyle and in this holistic approach to health and longevity we look at the factors of who we are as well as the factors which make us unwell including our beliefs and how we respond to stresses we’re expected to cope with.
Our lives are bound in suffering, yet we have the power to be healthy and free.
You may say ‘yeah right’ as you realise that life has never been easy and even the rich who can afford servants struggle to maintain good health and find any real enjoyment. Life is not fair or just, we have to make what we can of it and there are things we can do to create a healthy and happy life and in here you can learn how to improve on what where you are now.
Health is having the physical, mental and
emotional well-being to support life.
Happiness, joy and freedom are states of mind.
Philosophically, most of us realise that human life is brief and people simply play the games they’re born to. Yet some feel there is a higher purpose loosely defined by the often misunderstood concept of love and other noble ideas.
We all agree that we are unique and know that there is no species quite like us and to work out if there is greater meaning or more to life that we know now, we must adjust our thinking to encompass two distinct goals:
- The continuation of our species.
This requires that we maintain our individual and collective health as well as protecting the environment that we rely on for survival. - Our individuality
The personal freedom to be as we want to think, feel and act providing that this freedom does not adversely effect point 1. In other words, the individual must create a life which is at least harmless.
We are defined by history
Lets remember from the beginning knowledge is unreliable and that we often don’t know truth from fiction. From the big bang (or big birth) evolution resulted in us, yes, you and me. We know some of our reality through direct experience yet we know very little of ourselves.
In understanding how to be well, we must understand who we are and how we fit into the universe. Our individual health is in relation to the health of each other and our environment.
