The therapeutic benefits of yoga asana and massage

This is a form of bodywork that combines Western and Eastern massage techniques based on the idea that another persons touch combined with proper stretches and other movement techniques can bring about positive changes within the body.

The style exists as Thai Yoga Massage, but for persons not trained in Thailand, the style may be referred to as Yogassage. It also includes elements of Shiatsu and acupressure as there is some cross over between most massage styles.

  1. Clothed
    Based on the methods of Thai Massage, Barefoot Shiatsu and Yoga, this form of Yogassage is a blend of passive yoga stretches and massage techniques. It is sometimes referred to as the ultimate lazy and simple way of experiencing all of the benefits of yoga and more - because you relax while your therapist does the work, using hands, feet, forearms, elbows and thumbs to massage, press, pull, squeeze and twist the body into what are in essence, applied yoga postures.
    This form of Yogassage is another name form Thai Yoga Massage and it offers all the benefits of a yoga workout which over time restores health and vitality.
  2. Unclothed
    Here the client lays on the massage table and receives a massage based on the methods of therapeutic/remedial massage using oils combined with the limb movements of yoga asanas. The limbs are stretched and massaged at the same time to access the muscles that massage alone cannot reach.
    This form of Yogassage offers all the benefits of a therapeutic massage and holistic bodywork plus the yoga stretches and twists to restore health and vitality.
